Biography
My name is Amy Moszkowicz. As a child I sang along to music by such folk legends as Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Judy Collins. My parents were active in the civil rights movement, and I grew up believing we could change the world. It was a time of boundless optimism.
After elementary school, my family moved to South Korea. We traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, and I went to an international school. I remember open-air markets, rice paddies, the smell of moist earth, the sound of rain on tin roofs, and Buddhas carved in caves of stone. From these experiences, I started to write songs about history, hope, loss, and love.
My parents gave me their record collection. The tracks are scratchy, and the jackets are frayed. But those old vinyl records still transport me to those times when I was a child, times of hope and the belief in endless possibilities.
